Over 40 years of product development and manufacturing experience

WHY SYNECTIC PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Synectic Product Development is a full-service product development company focused on product design, prototype development, and manufacturing. Our story began in 1981 when Jeff Stein recognized the growing need for developing low-cost, quality medical devices. Armed with only three engineers, a couple of drafting boards, and a basic Apple computer, we began creating.

The business model revolved around competitive pricing and speed. We offered project plans, schedules, and deliverables, all for a fixed fee, and were able to provide results in four days when the industry standard was six weeks. Our engineering approach focused on the definition of synectics: a problem-solving technique that seeks to promote creative thinking, typically among small groups of people of diverse expertise. This collaborative approach to product development included design for manufacturing, simple components wherever possible, materials previously used by the customer, manufacturing processes, critical dimensions gauges, and ease of assembly tools.

As our company grew and expanded, we began diversifying our portfolio to cover everything from capital equipment to consumer products. Using our experience within such a regulated industry as medical devices, we were able to bring exceptional quality and design standards to the consumer industry. We grew our customer list with new startups, individual inventors, and multi-national companies from the Northeast to the Mid-Atlantic and eventually across the United States.

In 2013 we were acquired by Mack Molding. This vertical integration expanded our manufacturing capabilities, and we now offer engineering services from concept to production. Our service portfolio expansion includes the ability to handle a wide variety of contract manufacturing needs, such as plastic injection molding and structural foam molding, in-house.

No longer just a handful of employees working in a tiny room, we now employ over 15 full-time employees. In 2018 we purchased a new 10,000 square foot facility in Woodbridge, CT, expanding our manufacturing capabilities to include our new product introduction area.

Synectic’s engineering staff has decades of experience in innovative product design and manufacturing. Our facilities include:

  • 3D CAD platforms
  • a full machine shop
  • an in-vitro tissue lab
  • clean room manufacturing facilities

We are ISO 13485:2016 certified and ISO 9001:2015 compliant and can work within any specific quality system. See why our customers use our company time and time again. Contact us and let us bring your product to life!
