Engineering Minute – 3D Printed Magnetic Structures That Can Transform Their Shape

Engineers at MIT have created 3D printed soft structures that can be manipulated with magnets. The structures are made using a new type of 3D printable ink infused with magnetic particles. When printing, an electromagnet fitted to the 3D printer nozzle causes the magnetic particles to maintain a single orientation as negative or positive.
