Synectic Product Development is excited to announce that we’ve added a new Business Development Manager, Ryan Murphy, to our talented team. Ryan brings nearly a decade of experience spanning business development, technical sales, advanced manufacturing, CNC machinery, automation, and industrial equipment solutions. His background includes supporting customers across aerospace, defense, medical, woodworking, plastics, and custom manufacturing, with a strong focus on consultative problem-solving and helping organizations scale through the right technologies and processes. Most recently, Ryan has built expertise at the intersection of engineering and commercial strategy, making him a strong fit for supporting clients from concept through production. We sat down with Ryan to learn more about his professional journey, his passion for manufacturing and innovation, and what drew him to join our team.

Tell me about your background, where you went to school, what previous sales experience you have if any, and why did you choose to go into sales?

I grew up in a small town in Connecticut and have never left. I played college football on scholarship and graduated with a finance degree. I worked for a financial services company for a couple of years before I was recruited for a six-month engineering program with a company that sells CNC machinery. I fell in love with the complexity of the machinery, the parts these machines were manufacturing, and most importantly, the customers I was fortunate enough to interact with every day. I sold machinery to customers who were making parts for the firearms industry, aerospace, defense and military, gas and oil, etc.

Why did you choose to work at Synectic?

I decided to work at Synectic because of the diversity and experience of projects that they’ve taken on over the past few decades. I was very impressed with the scope of work that they’ve completed and are currently working on. The Synectic team made me feel welcome and part of the family almost immediately.

What are your job duties at Synectic? What is your territory? Keep this general no specifics about projects or clients.

My job is to help customers turn their product concepts into reality, working alongside Synectic’s outstanding engineering team. I develop relationships with our customers, share useful insights, gather project requirements, and ensure satisfaction throughout the process. I currently cover New York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania, but we’ve worked on projects with customers all over the country.

What is some quality or ability you bring to Synectic that can help our clients?

I bring a competitive, diligent, and distinctive personality/attitude to the office every day. I also bring a unique perspective and background through CNC machining and manufacturing.

What are some of your hobbies? What do you do when not at work? Anything people would find interesting?

I still love to play sports whenever I can, especially golf. I love to camp, hunt, and fish with my friends and family. I also have a passion for buying land/homes and subdividing or renovating the property in my spare time.

Favorite type of pizza?

As long as it is brick oven pizza from New Haven (Pizza capitol of the world), I’ll eat any kind of pizza.
