What's included in Synectic's DFM services?
Do you offer DFM as a standalone service, or only as part of a full product development project?
DFM is one of the most common ways clients bring us in mid-project. If you already have a design and prototype from your own team or another partner, we can pick up at DFM and take your design from there through manufacturing — you don’t need to have started with us to bring in Synectic for this stage.
How is DFM scoped and priced?
DFM is quoted per project based on part complexity, materials, and production volume. Request a quote and one of our specialists will scope it for your specific design.
How long does a DFM review take?
Can I complete DFM in-house, or should I bring in outside DFM consulting?
Unless you have an experienced manufacturing engineering team, we don’t recommend attempting DFM alone — done correctly, it takes a team of specialists working for weeks or months. Pairing with a dedicated DFM services provider like Synectic gets your product to market faster with fewer surprises in production.
What's the difference between DFM and DFA?
DFM (design for manufacturing) and DFA (design for assembly) are closely related and often done together. DFM focuses on optimizing individual parts for fabrication; DFA focuses on how those parts come together efficiently during assembly.
What happens to my design after DFM?
Your design moves into our new product introduction area, where we build and test first units, then scale production through the Mack Group until you reach full-scale contract manufacturing.
