DFM/DFA Refinements

We fine-tune your design for the chosen manufacturing process by combining parts, adjusting wall thickness, and designing for the direction of mold pull where injection molding is involved.

Tolerance Analysis

We evaluate critical function fits and assembly stack-ups so every part functions seamlessly once manufactured, accounting for dimensional variation.

Material & Supplier Selection

We select materials and suppliers together to balance strength, sterilization, biocompatibility, and working conditions against supplier certification, quality standards, delivery reliability, and cost.

Manufacturing Flow Chart

We map the full production sequence to surface bottlenecks and inefficiencies before they reach the shop floor.

Our DFM services cover manufacturability review, tolerance stack-up analysis, material and supplier selection, cost analysis via a preliminary BOM, and manufacturing flow mapping — ending in a design that’s ready for full-scale production. DFM is one of the most common ways clients bring us in mid-project. If you already have a design and prototype from your own team or another partner, we can pick up at DFM and take your design from there through manufacturing — you don’t need to have started with us to bring in Synectic for this stage.

DFM is quoted per project based on part complexity, materials, and production volume. Request a quote and one of our specialists will scope it for your specific design.

DFM usually takes several weeks, though more complex products, specialized manufacturing processes, or extensive design iterations can extend that to a few months.

Unless you have an experienced manufacturing engineering team, we don’t recommend attempting DFM alone — done correctly, it takes a team of specialists working for weeks or months. Pairing with a dedicated DFM services provider like Synectic gets your product to market faster with fewer surprises in production.

DFM (design for manufacturing) and DFA (design for assembly) are closely related and often done together. DFM focuses on optimizing individual parts for fabrication; DFA focuses on how those parts come together efficiently during assembly.
