Synectic is excited to announce that we’ve added another design engineer, Ryan Viores, to our talented engineering team. Ryan is a recent graduate of Yale University and excited to begin his engineering career at Synectic. We sat down with Ryan to learn more about him, his interest in engineering, and why he joined our team.
First, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to tell us about yourself. Let’s start with your engineering background. What inspired you to choose mechanical engineering as a career?
I’ve always liked building and creating things and always enjoyed math and science, so engineering was a natural fit for me. I gravitated towards engineering in high school when I built a rubber band-powered aircraft for my school’s Science Olympiad team. I chose to study Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering at Yale because I wanted to apply my engineering skills towards helping people.
What are your job duties at Synectic? Do you specialize in any branch of engineering?
As a design engineer, my responsibilities cover all the phases of product development, from concept development and prototyping to design for manufacturing and assembly. I assist the other engineers with whatever they need, so I’m always learning new things and how to apply them to the project at hand.
Of all the product development companies, why did you choose to work at Synectic?
I was an intern in the summer of 2023, and I enjoyed the work so much that I knew I wanted to return full-time. It’s cool to work on various projects and help bring new technologies and ideas to reality. The collaborative and fast-paced environment is especially captivating.
What quality or ability do you bring to Synectic that can help our clients?
I think one of the advantages of being a young engineer is that I’m always asking questions about the way things are done. I think that I can really help others on the team think about whether there’s a better approach to a problem.
What do you do when not working on the next latest and greatest product design for our clients?
I like hanging out with friends, going to the gym, and playing with my dogs. I’m a pretty big football and basketball fan, so I spend a lot of time outside of work following sports.
Before we end the interview, we’re dying to know, what’s your favorite type of pizza?
I’m a Connecticut native, so I have to say that New Haven style pizza is the best in the world, but I think Greek style pan pizza is an overlooked part of the pizza scene in Connecticut.
