MIT researchers have developed a gas-sensing smart pill that is 3,000 times more accurate than current breath test technology used to diagnose gut disorders. The capsule, which is about the size of a vitamin, can provide real time measurement and detection of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen in the gut and then send that data to a mobile app. The pill also has the added advantage of being non-invasive and does not interrupt the patients normal day to day activities.
