seizure detecting smart watch
The Embrace watch, developed by Empatica, was recently granted FDA clearance, for use in detecting seizures. The device is worn on a patient's wrist and continually monitors for specific patterns of electrodermal activity (EDA) that can indicate a seizure. In clinical trials, the device was found to accurately detect seizure activity 100% of the time. When a seizure is detected, the device notifies caregivers via the patient's smartphone. The data is then stored in an app, allowing both patients and caregivers to monitor disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
