Engineering Minute – Robot-Assisted Dressing

Robot Teaches Itself How To Dress People

Engineers at Georgia Institute of Technology have designed a robot to assist patients in getting dressed. The robot, named PR2, relies on touch to "feel" as it guides a hospital gown along the patients arm. The machine is self taught, analyzing over 10,000 simulations of a robot dressing a human to learn how to put on a hospital gown without injuring the patient.
