Portable Cough Assistance Device
Students at Grand Valley State University have developed a portable cough assistance device that functions without electricity. The device helps clears the airway of patients who have neuromuscular diseases that prevent them from having a productive cough. Unlike most cough assistance devices, this one is portable, lightweight, and about the size of a stack of books. The simple and low-cost design also allows for use within developing markets, where previous offerings may have been cost prohibitive.
