Powering robots with popcorn? Researchers at Cornell University have done just that. Their goal is to create robots out of minimal materials that can still accomplish an important task. Popcorn is on such material they are working with since it is abundant, biodegradable, edible, and inexpensive. Voltage is applied to the kernels making them pop, and as the kernel expands rapidly, it exerts force and motion "powering" the robots. Learn more about popcorn powered robots at Cornell University.
