Engineering Minute – Color-Changing Compression Bandage

Engineers at MIT have developed a color-changing compression bandage that helps providers determine if the bandage is applying the correct amount of pressure to the patient. Using pressure-sensing photonic fibers that are woven into a typical compression bandage, the bandage's color changes, when the fibers are stretched. Providers then can use a color chart to determine the amount of pressure the bandage is applying. Read more about the color-changing compression bandage at MIT.
